We Were Heroes

Week #4: The End (5/31-6/5)
This week you will be finishing your books.  As you read I want you to think about how the book ends in relation to how it started.

1. How did the main character change?
2. What are the important ideas (conflicts, character traits, people, places) that you plan to include in your research?
3. Choose one quote to represent something important from the book. Be sure to explain why you chose that quote.

Don't forget to respond to other posts by asking questions, providing memorial suggestions, or offering your opinion.

Week #3 Author's Purpose:Reading assignment for 5/18-5/25
p.62 June 25-p.93
This week I want you to focus on the main character, his/her driving characteristics as well as your overall impression of the group of people in history the main character represents (the perspective your book is about—like:an American soldier, a holocaust survivor, or a German who resisted the Nazis).

Please post your thoughts on at least two of these questions:

  • What are the external conflicts the protagonist faces? How does the author describe this and make it important?
  • What are the internal conflicts he/she is dealing with? What are the author's ideas about this, can you get a sense of their tone or opinion?
  • What do you think the main character will or should do? Does the author give any foreshadowing clues?
  • What are the most admirable character traits of the main character? What evidence does the author give of these traits?

  11. Scott is trying to sneak up on one of the German soldier but when he was doing that, one of the soldier spotted him but then Lt Rowe put his hood over his face and tried to choke him. I think Scott should just keep pushing though and help his squad fight and if there is any conflict with anybody then he will just get over it. Scott is very passive because, he just lets things go and when one of his Squad members left he didn't freak out, Scott gets worried a lot about his family and how his family is doing

  13. This book is seen though the eyes of a American soldier that has stormed the the beaches of Normandy, France.
1). I think that Scott will talk or write to back to Angie and they will start going out when Scott gets back because Scott wrote to Angie and then Angie wrote back on the back of a photo of her saying that she “loved him”.
2). I think the Scott is caring and kind because he is always thinking about other people that he knows or new even it they are wounded or died or even ok at home.

  16. How Scott has changed is, In the beginning Scott said "Oh!! i'm going to kill a lot of people but towards the end he thought its not just fun and games i need to help my squad and take this seriously. Scott's squad was on reserve and they couldn't fight in that moment at that time."We soldiers are fighting for our lives. I chose this quote because it represent was mostly happening in the book because they are fighting for there lives and fighting for our country

  18. Scott change mental in the beginning because he was thinking he was going to kill Germans and was thinking that the war was going to end in a few day. He did not think of friends and them getting killed

Omaha Beach because I want to go there to see what it look like.
